[It's a beautiful autumn evening. The sun is dipping below the horizon, the sky is mixed with hues of violet, reds, and blues. The leaves are browning and the air is crisper and chillier, a great contrast with the great heatwave of summer.
There's no one out during the after hours in this part of the city. The park while quiet and full of quaint charms has been avoided recently after seven unexplained disappearances. Certain officials have advised the locals to stay inside.
Oh, wait.]
Dancing in the moonlight,
Everybody's feeling warm and bright!
[Lien is walking past the warning signs and doing a little twirl all by herself. For someone who works on cold cases that usually involve murder in the first place, she sure is way too optimistic. She stops singing and calls to her companion that is not Jonah...]
Isn't the fresh air great? Man, I feel so energized!!

As for a more serious answer, I got an interesting job that isn't entirely dangerous and I told Jonah I wouldn't go alone at night.

There's been reoccurring disappearances of a few people in the park we're in right now. Usually, this isn't my line of work since the police can figure this one out for themselves, but the type of victim isn't consistent. The only thing that is the same, this area and the time people disappear around.

Absolutely not! I was able to get to the bottom of this- er, mostly.
[They're just right about where Lien was able to find the last traces of the people who were gone. There is a statue, a replica of some Greek style, robed woman. It looks innocuous enough, aside from the black stone it's made out of, making the eyes look rather eerie.]
It all traces back to this statue we're in front of. When I touched it, I found there was an energy I don't deal with often which I'm certain is magic.

I'm not consulting you about something you don't know much about. I actually wanted to see if there would be a reaction since I think it'd be a good idea to see what could draw out your powers.
no subject
... You're trying to help me?
no subject
I mean, like you said, you and other people apparently don't know anything about your magic, so what's better than trying to seek out answers? I mean, I know it's hard for you, but I'm always dealing with weird crap so... this seemed like... an opportunity...
[She's trailing off at the end because she feels her certainty faltering. Was this a good idea? Was she just assuming things??]

I-- thanks. Let's see where this goes.

Well, I don't even know if there's going to be any results, but...
You know, I don't like sitting still waiting for things to happen. I don't want that to happen to you because I think it's possible for you to be capable.

Anyways... [She tugs at his sleeve to lead his hand to the base of the statue.]
This is where I initially touched. Feel anything?
[It feels like cool stone, but... there seems to be something, as if it's stirring.]

But that's one thing! We now know that it's possible for you to feel other magic. Probably has to be strong though.
[She checks her phone for the time. It's getting late and the information she was given that people were gone in the dead of night.]

[ He makes a face, but it softens quickly. She's right, that is one thing he didn't know before. It's something. ]
Now what?

Next, we're almost at the hour where the people began to disappear.
[She kneels down, touching the ground. Lien has already read the past footsteps of those who were missing. But those would barely help. Knowing that they were here wasn't as important as to what they were here for and why they ended up disappear in the first place. She reaches to touch the statue again.
It feels... different compared to the first time. Did it react to Lindsey?]
Ugh, this statue is creeping me out. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say there is something living in the statue. And the magic that we both feel is what's keeping it in.
no subject
[ Because seriously Lien, what did you drag him into ]

[Looking up at the sky. The moon is full. The last time she scouted the area, there was less moonlight and she didn't find anything. But as the cycle continued... Ah. Moonlight.]
We just need to stick around a little while longer and check out if anything actually happens.

[ He really has no choice, and more importantly... he'd hate for something bad to happen to her. ]
no subject
In fact, she has it in good mind to call Jonah so he could just pick them up to avoid trouble. Her hand reaches for her cellphone, but the moon is positioned in a way where it's silvery light casts a shadow on the statue, catching her attention. The area around the statue seems to resonate even more strongly with mysterious energy, that the both of them should be able to feel, sensitivity to magic and all.]
Whoa. You totally should have felt THAT.
